Friday was Jacob's birthday. He made pizza at his house and I enjoyed the new swing he put up in his new place.

Saturday I organized the new place, particularly the craft station, and pawned some emily dickinson gear off on former cafe ladies, and bought some sage for the de-ghosting of our house, and at the last minute steve h. got me a ticket for the breeders' show at toads. And that was great...and I forgot all about the song "summer is ready" which was the end song, and so perfect for the evening, so perfect an anthem for the weekend and the summer, and all of that.

Sunday I took the train to New Haven and checked out 5 owls at the Quinnipiac Meadows landtrust preserve and I was happy to have been able to get 12 people to come out to this event! 12 people! Rock! And then Steve, Robin, Sarah & I played scrabble while it began to thunderstorm outside. And I beat SR by only one point...I was wanting him to win, I was appalled that he was not more knowledgeable about the rules of scrabble. They gave me a ride home and then I ate some dinner at the cafe and walked my dog ever so briefly (the humidity!) and I watched the julian schnabel film the diving bell & the butterfly which wikipedia juist taught me is in fact based on a true tale, which makes things even more interesting.
All in all, the kind of summer weekend dreams are made of. And still to come is Prairie Home Companion, and a week plus in Minneapolis, and maybe even Wilco and a wedding in Rhode Island (not mine!)
I neglected to mention that on Sunday when Steve, Robin & Sarah gave me a ride home my dog peed on the couch, but then that's how she dribbles. I would pee for those guys too, if I had less bladder control. kegels keep me strong.
