I can smell the work around the corner. JC & I went on the most casual and uncoordinated vacation ever. It included Western Mass, our house again, Philadelphia, and the Allentown Fair. There we saw Sonic Youth, Ween, and The Flaming Lips. The middle band did not rock my world. Back in the home skillet saddle (and loving my bed, as always, after some time away) I can feel how close we are to schoolwork and work work and I am trying not to think about it. Instead I made some summer vegetable soup and visited the puppies (one of whom may become ours). I am leaning towards the runt whose name is Pippi, for obvious reasons. (I like runts, I have been named Pippi by certain co-workers) In other news, on a day trip to Weir Farm we lost track of directions and ended up in Rhinebeck, Red Hook, and Tivoli New York. It was, as it always is there, charming and slightly unreal and wonderfully relaxing. I ate yummy treats from a bakery and spoke of paying partial rent on a place there (the friends I went with are moving there, possibly) so that I could weekend there like a true bourgeois lady. What have I become? Between my new appliances and my home improvement projects, I'll wake up and be driving an SUV. God help me if that ever happens. My car is almost hitting 200,000, however. We are just around the corner.
