I have rearranged my living room and it is wonderful. In addition, JC & I just went to see Sharon Olds read at Yale, which was pretty excellent. Jon complains that poets don't know how to use the language of audio, and Old's use of the words "compressed" and "deep" bother him, as a voice like this wouldn't sound like what she thinks. He cited another example, a poet who called feedback reverb, or some such thing. See, I'm a poet so I'm equally confused, but I have him to check my descriptors, thank heavens. In addition, I continue to be amused by his reading of harper's magazine. Today I went in the bathroom and found he'd been reading an issue about poetry contests. I like to think (misguidedly, I'm certain) that he's trying to enhance his understanding of me. Probably, its just that all the copies of sound on sound and EQ were relocated to his bedside when I did a housecleaning.
