I would like to say some things about my visit to the land of the pinstriped, but I am currently less than eloquent. Much is happening. I returned home to a universe of appalling shenanigans, chaos, and the like. This evening we are hosting the first annual veteran's salute dinner dance and the past two days have been a table dressing, flyer-making bonanza. Add to the mix the following situations:
1. My boss' mom may or may not be dying. But she is making my boss upset to the extent that she was yelling at nurses on the phone, and they are collecting information on her erratic behavior because of her threats.
2. My favorite co-worker may be "bumped" because someone in another department is losing their job and the union rules allow this. I think this threat has been blocked by my aforementioned boss, but that did not prevent a full 3 hours of yesterday afternoon to be occupied with silverware/napkin wrapping whilst she made phone calls to others to solve the problem.
3. some kind of bad fight between conini & family went on while I was away and his dad made him so sad he's like eyeore, wandering around under a cloud. I am so used to being the crabby one, I have to check my cranky hat at the door. I am hoping this mood breaks, because the weather is so lovely and we have gardening to do! In the midst of this fight, our garden was insulted and I am still steaming from this fact.
4. Two good friends who have a daughter together appear to have broken up permanently. I think this is a ultimately a good thing, but that does not prevent the usual hard feelings and lumpy sadness that always accompanies break ups.
In better news, the soda cans they provide on british airways are delightfully small, and when I returned home I gave mine to conini which he sipped. Then we went to a great diner that I once ate at when I had a head cold (which made it rather un-delicious). This time, it was everything I'd imagined it was last time, through the stuffy head. Also, I received an e-mail from one of my professors which said I'm getting an "A". Hurrah! And that class was rather tough, if I do say so myself.
