Day of sneezes! I need to think about what I might like to do in England. I have booked a flight for next week, which is delightful and very soon.
I have planted some herbs: basil (lots and lots, which I hope grows bushy and delicious so I can live off pesto), parsley, lavendar. There is still oregano and sage from 2005. Despite late summer gardening difficulties last year, I have renewed hope. Spring will do that to a lady. Also, on a beach walk with S. yesterday I got a nice big square pot from one of the beach manses. I like his neighborhood, with the big Poli mansion, and the little mansions Poli built for his family. I think of the picture of the neighborhood, with the trolley stop that would take a person in either direction, to New Haven and West Haven, or to Milford and points west. How can I be nostalgic for something I have never known? And I am.
Many birds are finding their way into my crafts, and I saw a red-winged blackbird two days ago, which made me rather happy.
I am so pleased to have time to do what I want with. Read the New Yorker, make silly bird patches from felt, go on sunny walks, make supper.
